Alibaba's focus for Singles' Day changed this year from deals to international products and entertainment. It will always be hard luring in Chinese consumers to a shopping festival without massive discounts, but they still managed to grow sales value by 32% from last year in RMB terms. A great feat and a sign of a maturing Chinese consumer. Sales were helped by interactive activities that entertained shoppers as the tapped away on their smartphones. Big name sports stars, musicians and actors such as Kobe Bryant, David and Victoria Beckham and Scarlett Johansson charmed consumers too. The infographic below shows Alibaba's Singles' Day results, the top countries and brands. Arch rival JD.com also saw strong sales growth, up 78% from 2015.
